The New York City Bar hosts Robert Chender
Thursday, February 23, 2017 | 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Program Fee: Free for Members | $10 for Non-Members
Law practice, whether in law firms, corporate law departments, or non-profits serving social, economic, or environmental justice issues, contains situations where compassion may arise or be called for. These include, on the one hand, working with clients or colleagues who are suffering; and on the other, working with difficult opponents, colleagues, or clients. We will look at what compassion and its close cousin empathy actually are; learn a mindfulness practice to generate compassion; and discuss how being compassionate can make us happier, and even make us better lawyers
